It's become apparent to me that it's time to give a bit of a louder heads up to the fact that we're doing 2 Xmorti and an unDead Pool next month!
We usually only do one Xmortis per month and apparently people thought that this past Sunday was the last Dead Pool of the season.

So the schedule is as follows:

Xmortis Horror Hotel - Friday October 9th

Xmortis Devil's Night Halloween Party -  Friday October 23rd

unDead Pool - Sunday October 25th

    Go See District 9
    Like, REALLY

Go see District 9 on a BIG screen with a fancy sound system. It is made of AWESOME and MIGHTY KUNG -FU!
The movie is GREAT even beyond the FUCKING EPIC ACTION that ramps up and up in the second half of the film.
The movie blends a sort of documentary style seamlessly with a well shot, acted and rendered sci-fi action/drama.

I rate it: FOR GREAT JUSTICE

It's a pretty cool article. Xmortis is NOT a Fetish night though. I'm not sure where they got that idea other than the event's fetish-friendly scene and dresscode... meh, oh well.

Xmortis is turning Five in July... EEK!
It's oddly difficult and easy for me to believe. This July 10th is our 5th anniversary. The last week of July marks 4 years since the last nights of Manray. August will mark our 4th year at TT's. I think it's safe to say that a lot of things have changed in that time but I like to think we've all kept at least some of the better tings the same.

Anyway, I think I'll avoid getting misty and nostalgic this morning and get along with posting the info instead. I got the pins in the mail the other day. Some of you may have seen me or Eloni sporting them over the weekend. I'm pleased with how they turned out. Unlike the Xmortis Vampy Valentines buttons, I ordered enough that most of the crowd should be able to get one. Just be sure you take one when you have an opportunity to do so!.

Kiefer Sutherland is a Drunk Asshole
So, apparently Kiefer Sutherland headbutted Jack Mccullough and broke his nose last night.

I went to High School with Jack Mccullough and he was a sweet & gentle soul.

    http://guestofaguest.com/tag/jack-mccullough/

    http://www.fashionologie.com/tag/Jack+McCollough

    http://www.tmz.com/2009/05/06/kiefer-sutherland-defends-brooke-shields/

    UPDATES:

McCollough reportedly received a minor cut on his nose. The designer is quoted as telling authorities that Sutherland "was drunk and obnoxious and wouldn't back down or be logical," and that the actor "pulled this stupid wrestling move like a teenager" before the headbutt. An attorney for Sutherland had no comment.

    LOL!

    Well THAT Sucks.
So, in case you haven't heard, GM has decided to shutter Pontiac. That sucks but it's not entirely surprising to me. They've been making outright strange decisions with that brand for a long, long time.

It's Pontiac, that means people want to buy THIS (which they discontinued in 2002):

    Definitely NOT this:

I mean really, who the fuck wants a Pontiac SUV?

WTF are they thinking? They're keeping the superfluous GMC and ditching the potentially inspiring and usually exciting Pontiac brand? Really? That just happened?

And again I find myself asking, WHY does the Obama administration see fit to bully our auto industry so severely as compared to the banking industry?

Sigh... regardless, It means we never get to see THIS:

    NO on H.R. 669!
Really. Please take the 2 minutes to read this and take action. This directly impacts me and a lot of YOU and it can not be allowed to pass.

    From: http://nohr669.com/

    What is HR 669?
H.R. 669 stands for House Resolution 669 and is titled "The Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act". It is a bill currently before Congress that if passed will change the way that the US Government classifies animal species that are not native to the United States. H.R. 669 will make it illegal to breed and sell many animals that are very common in the pet trade.

Why should you care about HR 669?
Anyone with pet fish, birds, reptiles, or small mammals will be affected by this bill. Any company selling product or services for pet fish, birds, reptiles or small mammals will be affected by this bill. Would you be impacted by "The Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act"?
    • Virtually all fish in an aquarium are not native to the United States
    • Most pet birds are species not native to the US
    • Most reptiles kept as pets are not native to the US
    • Hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and ferrets are not native to the US
What can you do to stop HR 669?
Pet owners support the concept of a risk based approach to non-native imports, unfortunately H.R. 669 as drafted does not provide a constructive way forward.

You can help by standing up and making your voice heard. Let your Representative know that you oppose H.R. 669 as drafted and the financial and/or emotional effect it will have on you, or your friends, or your family members if it passes. The link below will allow you to send an email to your Representative in Congress and even give you the option to follow up with a phone call.

    2009 Dodge Challenger SE Rally
While I'm still personally planning to get the R/T, I do heartily approve of this new offering.

I was wholly uninspired by the base Challenger SE. The 250bhp V6 is fine. That's a respectable power plant and I think there are already a bunch of mods available for it. The thing that grossed me out on the base SE was the lack of the autostick 5 speed and the fancy retro fuel door. It still needs dual exhaust IMO but this dress-up is a HUGE improvement. I'd totally buy one of these if I wasn't already set on the R/T.

It's a good way to liven the line up. Back in the 70's they had small engined Challengers too. They had small block V-8's. What they did back then was take the hot one (the 340) and make the Rally Package. What they've done here is the same idea only with the V6.

This added some pleasure to my day.

    Oppose HR-875
It may seem odd to open your LJ this morning to find me raging against agricultural legislation but I assure you, that is indeed what I intend to do here. I grew up in a rural area. I like farm stands. I guess all that hippy crunchy locally grown crap has rubbed off on me. So, I'll make it quick. This bill is quietly making its way through the House while we're all distracted by the stimulus bill. This legislation could badly damage small farmers' ability to operate.

http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=12671 - "This legislation is so broad based that technically someone with a little backyard garden could get fined and have their property seized. It will effect anyone who produces food even if they do not sell but only consume it. It will literally put all independent farmers and food producers out of business due to the huge amounts of money it will take to conform to factory farming methods. If people choose to farm without industry standards such as chemical pesticides and fertilizers they will be subject to a vareity of harassment from this completely new agency..."

http://www.ftcldf.org/news/news-02mar2009.htm - "The burdensome requirements the bill imposes on small farms and the intrusive federal control it creates over small farm operations threaten the future viability of sustainable agriculture and the local food movement. HR 875 has been assigned to both the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Committee on Agriculture. It needs to be stopped. Anyone who values freedom of food choice and the rights and independence of small farmers should contact their elected representatives and the members of the two committees to ask that they oppose HR 875. Updates on the status of this bill will be provided on this site."

WHAT YOU CAN DO IN A NUTSHELL:

Contact your members at 202-224-3121 and ask them to oppose HR 875 and S 425. Ask them if they personally have read the legislation and what their position is.

    https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml
    http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm?State=MA

    Sample Letter:

I am writing you today to voice my opposition to HR 875 (S 425) and ask that you not support it. I believe this bill may harm small and local farmers. I urge you to carefully read this legislation before casting your vote.

    Sincerely,
    Your Name

    Sci-Fi Houses & Rooms
So, today's flight of fancy for me is theme houses and rooms.

Specifically, I've kinna always wanted to do a room or two in an as of yet un-acquired home like a set from a movie or TV show. There's a guy in the UK that did his whole home like Star Trek Voyager (he went bankrupt I hear). That's a bit extreme for me, but then there's the guy that built a TOS style home theater on a fairly reasonable budget.

I don't think a Star Trek room would be my first choice, but I'm curious to find out what themes you people think would make the awesomest of sci-fi rooms.
